Continuous Beam Design Using ASDIP CONCRETE

Image
Dear ASDIP Customer ASDIP CONCRETE includes the design of multi-span continuous beams per the latest ACI 318 provisions. But how do you actually enter the information in the program? How do you check the results? How do you optimize the design? How do you print out the reports? I have prepared a blog post with a short video, where I show an overview of the user interface and the required steps to design continuous beams using ASDIP CONCRETE quick and easily.  Y ou are invited to read this blog post and watch the video. Concrete Column Design - Structural Overview

Image
Dear ASDIP Customer: Columns are very important structural elements. The design of slender concrete columns subject to axial loads and bending moments may be cumbersome and time-consuming. The generation of the interaction diagram may become very complex, particularly for bi-axial columns. I have prepared a blog post with a short video, with an overview of the design methodology, and engineering background with comments about the most important topics. Y ou are invited to read this blog post and watch the video. Concrete Column Design - Structural Overview Your comments and suggestions are welcome. Significance of an Effective Spread Footing Design

Image
The weight and size of a building structure along with the nature of the soil distribution it is built on, plays a massive role in the foundation design. Soil pressure dispersal must be addressed to ensure a sound structure. Spread footing is a critical structural component that offers strength to a building's foundation.

Basic Information on the Methods Used for Base Plate Design

Image
The design involved in the formation of a base plate has always been a crucial part of the any structural design. There are various reasons to back up this statement, however the biggest reason is that loads are transferred from the massive structure to the foundation with the help of the base plate. The base plate can be considered to be an interface in between the massive structure and the foundation, which fulfills the load path into the foundation system. Base plate designs can also be used to provide a uniform distribution of massive structure loads into the foundation, and therefore comply with the shape of the foundation, generally a square or a rectangle.

Pile Cap Design Example Using ASDIP FOUNDATION

Image
Dear ASDIP Customer: ASDIP FOUNDATION 4 was released recently. It includes the design of pile caps based on ACI 318 and CRSI Design Guide. The design of pile caps may be time-consuming, since it implies the check of multiple limit states for shear and bending, in addition to the pile axial and lateral capacity. But what about if you could model your pile cap in a software, check everything graphically as you go, and complete and optimize your design within minutes? Too good to be true? I have prepared a new blog post with a short video, where I show the design example of a typical pile cap completely from scratch using ASDIP FOUNDATION.  Y ou are invited to read this blog post and watch the video. Beam Stirrups Design Example Using ASDIP CONCRETE

Image
Dear ASDIP Customer: The design of concrete beams is time-consuming. It involves the calculation of the shears for the factored load combinations. These forces in turn must be smaller than the provided design shear strength at any point of the beam, and in addition the design must comply with a number of code limitations. I have prepared a blog post with a short video, where I show how to design the stirrups along a typical continuous beam using ASDIP CONCRETE quick and easily.  Y ou are invited to read this blog post and watch the video.
