Shear Lug Design Example Using ASDIP STEEL

Image
Dear ASDIP Customer: Shear lugs are steel elements welded to the underside of base plates to resist shear loads. The design of shear lugs may be cumbersome and time-consuming. Multiple checks need to be done for several failure modes, which in turn depend on the geometry of the concrete support. I have prepared a new blog post and a short video with a step-by-step design example of a shear lug.  Y ou are invited to read this blog post and watch the video. Y our comments and suggestions are always welcome. Shear Lug Design Example Using ASDIP STEEL Best regards, Javier Encinas, PE ASDIP Structural Software www.asdipsoft.com

Advantages Of Using Reinforced Concrete In Construction

Image
Reinforced concrete is a composite building material created with a technique of embedding two materials such as steel bars and cement to resist tensile stress, shear, and compression stress in the structure. The composite material resists bending and stretching that an ordinary concrete mix cannot hold. The cement hardens the concrete while the steel rods improve the cohesion between the concrete and steel. This is why modern builders use reinforced concrete design to construct the building for both commercial and domestic projects.
